The Proteas are dearly loved by their nation and their fans all across the world. Testimony to this statement was provided by the millions of heartbreaks on their last minute shock exit from the World Cup semi finals this week. With such devotion towards their national cricket team it would be fair to say that South Africa has some of the best fans in the world.
Watch how the official supporters club of the South African team helped both the team find one of their biggest fans as well as give 11 year old cricket enthusiast Kieron Adams the surprise of a lifetime- a tête-à-tête with national team stars AB De Villiers, Dale Steyn, Faf Du Plessis, Vernon Philander and his favourite Hashim Amla, followed by a memorable game of street cricket with the pros, all in his neighbourhood.
Star of the day Adams, who loves how the beautiful game brings people together, was welcomed outside his house along with the lads with a deafening applause. He describes the experience as ‘the best day ever of my whole life’. This effort by the players as an onlooker remarked, goes on to show how humble and down to earth the team is and makes it easier too see that ‘they’re human’.
